Rouse into Reality Yussra MT Ebrahim 5/19/2020 Even more interesting than dreams is the moment of transition from dream to reality. Let’s consider that moment, since it seems to hold hints to the nature of consciousness and existence. Often, being pulled out of a dream and becoming aware of the real world that the dreamer has been physically occupying all along is a disturbing experience. Commonly, the dreamer tries to resist leaving the dream, sometimes even after realizing it is only a dream and the truth exists outside of it. Why, then? Why do we cling to our surreal, fabricated experiences? I think the answer lies in our investment in these experiences. While we were dreaming, the dream was all we were aware of, so we placed our care in it wholeheartedly. Upon beginning to wake up, we slowly come to acknowledge the futility and apparent lack of purpose in all of our dream efforts.
